OK, I had to do this. The Animal Refuge League is having a one day event today only, (Friday, June 29th from 11-6) where adoption fees are being waved for cats over one year old! There are lots of great cats available at the ARL, so I put together a very quick slideshow of the cats I photographed four days ago...many of which are still available...today for free!!!
If you've been thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, today is the day! Free bunnies and special waiver fees on dogs and kittens too!!
I TRIPLE DOG DARE you to fall in love today!!

Animal Photo Shoot. A Maine Photographer
About a week ago, Lynne from the Animal Refuge League asked me if I would do a bit of a "formal" photo shoot for some promotional agenda items she is working on. I'm always game! She got us a model, Sarah Perry from Idexx, and she picked out some adorable animals from the shelter. This was so much fun!
Just a quick reminder of what I do at the shelter. I photograph between 15 and 30 cats a week. I photograph them in their cage. I do about 75% alone, and then for the other 25%...those cats that might be labeled as escape artists...those I often times need a helper to either distract the cat or catch it if it tries to escape.
This photo shoot was nothing like the usual. I didn't need to worry about escaping animals...all I needed to do was catch a good expression on both the animal and Sarah.
Here are some of my favorites!

Life size photos. Maine Photographer
Hello Wednesday...and the first day of summer! Looks like it's for real this year...just saw Kevin Manix say it could reach 96?!
Recently I did a fun little project for the Westbrook Baseball Seniors. I took action photos of each player for life size posters that were presented to them at the end of the year banquet. It was very cool to see my work in life size SIZE! Here are a few snapshots of the posters hanging at the potluck.
I want to share that I donate a lot of my time and talent to the Westbrook community and the Westbrook schools. If you follow my blog you already know that I photograph the animals at the Animal Refuge League every week, and this past year I donated many hours to Westbrook High Schools soccer program and baseball program.
I would love to ask you all for your support of Minor Moments Photography when Senior portrait season is upon us very shortly and any other photography needs your family may have. Thank you all for the continued support!

Pet and People Walk 2012 From A Maine Photographer
The 21st Annual Pet and People Walk sponsored by the Center for Grieving Children has got to be one of my favorite events to photograph. Personally, this was my third. Over these three years I have seen some familiar faces, and I have met some new faces too. A very happy and fun event. I'm always amazed at how well all the four legged walkers get along! This years event was moved onto the pavement because of all the recent rains water logging the grassy area...but no rain fell on this day, we were blessed with beautiful skies and temperatures!
I love to let my photos tell the story instead of my words. I have over 400 photos of this years event, so I put together some of my favorites in a short 2.5 minute slide show to share with all of you, just qlick on the photo below.

Danielle.Maine High School Senior Photographer
We do all have those moments where we feel old...right? So far in 2012 I seem to be having them every month...but this month there are reminders everywhere...with the end of another school year. My baby is attending his last week of Middle School this week, to be celebrated mid week with a small advancement ceremony...and then it's off to High School! But, that is not my only reminder.
The year I got married, my husband and I attended four other weddings that year. Pretty typical...friends all seem to move on together sometimes. A year or so after all the wedding showers come the baby showers...and the first baby of this group to arrive was Danielle. I remember her "birth" day like it was yesterday...and that's what brings me the feelings I described in the first sentence. Even though I remember Danielle's birthday as though it was yesterday...it was not...Danielle graduates High School tomorrow!
I am blessed to call Danielle my Godchild...and so privileged to document these special years with her Senior photos. BEAUTIFUL Danielle...I'm sure you will agree. Those of you who know her parents will see the best of both Mom and Dad's features...and a bit of Julia Roberts too!
We did these photos at Ferry Beach in Scarborough, at sunset. Danielle isn't capable of taking a bad photo...although she is a teenager and probably disagrees. Here is a small selection of a few of my favorites!
Congratulations Danielle on your High School graduation day...and congratulations to Mom and Dad too!!

Victoria and Jake's Engagement Shoot.Maine Wedding Photographer
This rainy weekend has turned out to be a bit of a blessing for me. My original plans included taking more photos, but instead I've gotten to stay inside and work on sharing some of the photos I've already taken...and now I have the perfect photos to share!
These photos are from an engagement session I did two weeks ago, when we were blessed with gorgeous weather!
I met Victoria and Jake at Goose Rocks Beach at 9am on a Saturday morning and the sun was already burning brightly. I quickly looked around and there wasn't a spot of shade to be had anywhere. Since this is the exact spot Jake and Vic will be exchanging wedding vows on later this summer, it was important to them that we start here with some engagement photos. Victoria had also invited her mom to help entertain the young Brelyn, Victoria's daughter. Very smart mother! I absolutely loved photographing Brelyn, but I also loved being able to focus on couple shots while Brelyn played with her grandmother.
The reception will be held just up the street from the beach, at the Ocean Woods Resort, so we headed over there to see if we could take a few shots in the shade. The contrast between the two spots is intense. At the beach we had white sands, blue water and sky, and lots of shadows! At the resort everything was so lush and green...I do believe we got the best of each scenario. Honestly, I'm a huge fan of color photos...especially for weddings...after all, we put so much emphasis on the wedding colors, and I could tell Victoria had definitely put some thought into the colors for our photo session. Unless a bride specifically requests black and white photos, I often feel a bit of guilt converting their photos from color to black and white...however...because of the contrast between these two spots I have already converted many of these engagement photos to black and white, and I really like the results. Once I took away the contrast, it left me looking at a couple in love...that...sometimes...is the power of a black and white photo.
I offer a free engagement shoot in all of my wedding packages. It gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and built a level of comfort for the wedding day. I absolutely love and enjoy these opportunities, both during the photo session, and the conversations that can take place after the photo session. I thank Victoria and Jacob, and Bre and Grandmother Cathy for all coming out early on a Saturday morning to spend some time together for a photo shoot...and I absolutely look forward to spending time with this wonderful family later this summer on their very special wedding day. I've included some of my favorites from the photo session here, and also added a slide show at the end.
