In the beginning of the year I blogged about a few goals for 2013. I know I shared some additional stuff on facebook too. On facebook I posted a photo of myself holding a 30 pound bag of dog food, symbolizing the amount of weigh I wanted to lose in 2013. I was ready to make a change. In January I started out attending a one hour "boot camp"class twice a week, at 5:30 am. Within two classes I had made a connection between the amount of weight I wanted to lose and a thirty pound bag of dog food. I can barely pick up a 30 pound bag of dog food, and when I do make the purchase every couple of months, I do let someone carry it to my car when the option is available. So what's the connection? Everything we do in boot camp...I picture in my head how I'm holding that 30 pound bag of dog food all over my body, and how much easier it would be to do every single jump or run or plank or burpee or renegade row or bicep curl or squat or butt kick or high knees or ... if I wasn't carrying that damn bag of dog food with me every morning. :)
So here's my update. I have lost 15 pounds so far. Half way to my goal! Out of all of my recent accomplishments, this is by far the one I am most proud of. I want to say I've done it all by myself, but of course that is not true. Yes, I am totally responsible for getting myself up before the crack of dawn and driving over to the community center, now three times a week, but I am not alone when I get there. I am joined by so many other individuals with similar goals...none of them trying to shed dog food pounds...but similar goals never the less.
I have a slide show to share from this past weekend. I went to Peaks Island for the annual scout bike trip with my son Joshua. I biked about 21 miles on Saturday, most of it was "just for the fun of it". I always bring up the rear...it's what I do...making sure no kid gets left behind...but this year the biking for me was easier and fun...and being the last biker was a choice not a conclusion. Incorporating exercise into my life is making a difference. I am thankful for the journey I am on and inspired and honored to be on it with so many other wonderful people!
Peaks Island is a wonderful way to get out and enjoy our beautiful State, and get some awesome exercise too!
